btc confirmation delays when the chain gets busy

Post by seedphrase_sasha »

Anyone else basically stopped using BTC for casino moves when the mempool fills up?

Last week I did a withdraw and the site sent it fine on their end, but it sat unconfirmed for almost two hours because fees had spiked and my tx was underpriced for the congestion. The casino's payout page showed it as sent so on their side they're clean, it was purely the network. Felt like watching paint dry refreshing a block explorer.

The annoying part is some sites batch BTC withdrawals to save on fees, which is fine when it's quiet but stacks on top of an already busy chain. So your cashout is waiting on their batch interval AND confirmations.

For anything time sensitive I've moved to USDT TRC-20. But curious how people handle BTC. Do you just accept the wait, bump fees where the site lets you, or avoid BTC withdrawals entirely now?

I avoid BTC for withdrawals, period. Not out of principle, just math. You're paying for the privilege of waiting.

The batching thing you flagged is the part people miss. A site batches to cut its own fees, which means your cashout literally cannot move until enough other withdrawals queue up to fill the batch. That's an operator policy hiding behind network congestion. Ask support what their batch interval is before you assume it's the chain's fault. Half the time it's them.

lol the paint drying line, felt that. did a BTC pull on a friday night once during a fee spike and it confirmed sunday. genuinely thought I'd been stiffed. it just sat there.

now it's USDT or nothing for me. cmq for actual betting balance I never park it in BTC anymore, too much swing on top of the wait. won a decent pot, value dropped 4 percent before it even cleared. why bother

Small stakes weekend guy so I don't move much, but yeah BTC withdrawals always felt slow even when I assumed it was just normal. Good to know some of that is batching and not pure network.

Question though, when a site lets you pick the fee on a BTC cashout, are they actually setting it or is that on me? Most places I've used just send it however they send it and you have no control. The USDT route sounds like less to think about honestly.

Weekend, on most casinos you have zero fee control. They construct the tx, you just get the hash. So if they underprice it during congestion you wait, full stop, no RBF on your end.

That alone is why I treat BTC as a deposit option at best and never a withdrawal preference. Stablecoin on a cheap fast chain sidesteps the whole confirmation lottery. The only time BTC withdrawal makes sense is large amounts where the flat fee is trivial relative to the size and you genuinely don't care about a few hours.
